      Creation
      
      “OK, MJ, what happened?’ I asked myself as I struggled to stand up on the grassy plain. As I surveyed the terrain around me, a shiny building that looked like a short temple, with a black marble dome, emerged from the tangle of trees and green foliage. Seeing as I had nowhere else to go, I started to pick my way across the tangle of brush, plants and trees that stood guard and marred my path to the temple in the distance. Then…
      “What is your name, young woman?” a voice called to me, filling my head with echoes. Suddenly a wave of tingling sensations swept through my body, making me faint and dizzy. I had to close my eyes from the overwhelming sensations.
      I opened my eyes to find I was in a room. Well, it wasn’t really a room, more like a…I can’t really describe it. All I know is that I was in a place where I was both enclosed and free. But what surprised me was that there was a nubile body right in front of me.
      And it was alive.
      I did not know its gender, or even if it was human. Whatever it was, it was alive and staring at me, with what resembled hands resting on its midsection.
      Again the voice called to my mind, saying “What is your name?” I had to answer, so I did.
       “MJ Sowder,” I replied.
      “Processing…MJ Sowder confirmed. Welcome to Valencia.” The voice announced, now coming into physical form as a teenage girl with hip-length sea-green hair, dark blue eyes and a deeply contrasting school uniform. She stood next to the faceless figure, which was still posing with its “hands” on its “hips”.
      “It’s time to make your Avatar, which is what you will look like when you log on. What do you want to make your Avatar’s race be? You can choose from human, kitsune, neko, and elf,” she said. As she told me the possible races a panel of four pictures. Each one had a picture of the aforementioned races. I pondered the question for a minute, and then placed my hand over the plain human figure. The picture flashed, and suddenly the shapeless figure looked more human to me. The eyes appeared, although empty of all color so far. The legs, feet, arms and hands appeared, but still not fully developed.
      “Now, what’s the gender of your Avatar?” she asked.
      “Female, of course!” I replied. Now the body took full shape. Her chest expanded a little bit, curves were added in all the right places, and (thank god) undergarments were added to save my eyes from becoming blinded. But the hair was still nonexistent and the skin and eyes were chalk white.
      “I think from now on you can figure out how to dress your Avatar. I’ll come back in a while to help you out with the final part of the process.” And with that, she left me with my new body, as she faded away.
      I decided to dress up my Avatar with a long black gi, or Japanese fighting uniform. On the gi were 4 different patterns: on the right sleeve were tendrils of flames; on the left sleeve, a vine with flowers twisted all around the arm; on the front, a tsunami wave filled out the bottom of the shirt; on the apron, gray cirrus clouds streak over the apron. The avatar also had really long mahogany hair and silver eyes, with just a slight touch of tan in the skin tone. I also put on a pair of blue phoenix wings on her.
      I hit a button to the right of my Avatar, and the girl who had the voice I heard came back. She said,
      “Wow, she looks good!”
      “Arigato!”
      “OK, now there is still one thing we have to take care of before you can play Valencia. What do you want to name your Avatar?”
      “Her name…is Eni.”
      “Eni Avatar confirmed. Welcome to Valencia,” she said, as a bright light shone from under me, engulfing me and Eni.
      Just before my feet touched the ground, I felt the emergence of a second soul inside me, giving me confidence and strength.
      My name was Eni. And this was the first step towards an adventure in this new world called Valencia.
